LoL Champion Sales Guide 2025 – Best Champions to Buy on Discount & RP Value Tips

Updated 2025 guide to LoL champion sales: how discounts work, which champions are worth buying when they’re on sale, and how to spend your RP wisely.

LoL Champion Sales Guide – Best Champions to Buy on Discount & RP Value Tips

LoL Champion Sales Guide 2025: How to Spend Your RP Wisely

If you’ve been hoarding RP and waiting for the perfect moment to finally unlock that one dream champion, you’re not alone. Champion discounts are one of the best ways to stretch your wallet in LoL, but with dozens of options rotating in and out of the store every month, it’s very easy to make impulse buys that never leave your champion pool.

This updated 2025 guide takes the old “June sale” idea and turns it into a year-round champion sale guide. Instead of focusing on a single month, we’ll break down how modern LoL sales work, how to decide which champs are worth buying on discount, and why the champions listed below are still great value picks when they show up in weekly or seasonal promos.

We’ll also touch on how these champions fit into the current solo-queue reality and how you can combine smart champion purchases with Boosteria services if your main goal is simply to climb faster instead of collecting every champion in the game.

How Champion Sales Work in LoL in 2025

Riot regularly rotates discounted champions and skins in the in-game store. Exact line-ups change every week, but several rules have stayed roughly the same for years:

  • Weekly champion & skin sales – a small set of champions and skins is discounted each week, usually up to around 40–60% off the base RP price.
  • Large seasonal promos – during big events (pre-season, end-of-year, Worlds, etc.) you often see bigger bundles, missions and loot that indirectly cheaper your champion collection through shards and tokens.
  • Blue Essence tools – the Essence Emporium appears on special dates and focuses on chromas, icons and cosmetics for Blue Essence, but it’s still part of the general “discount economy” and lets you conserve RP for champions you truly want.
  • New player & returnee offers – some accounts receive special bundles and mission rewards that help you unlock a core champion pool faster, making future sales pure “luxury picks” instead of must-buys.

Because exact numbers, bundles and dates change every year, a good rule for 2025 is:

  • Check the Store → Featured → On Sale tab once a week.
  • Don’t spend RP on a champion that is likely to appear in sales soon unless you need it right now for ranked or for an event.
  • Use analytics sites like OP.GG or similar to see whether a champion is performing well in the current patch before buying it purely to climb.

Weekly sale line-ups are also covered on big esports and news sites, so if you like planning ahead, check LoL sections on major portals for quick summaries of what’s on sale this week. This way, you can log in, grab what you pre-decided, and log out before you impulse-buy five more champs you’ll never touch.

How to Decide Which Champion to Buy on Sale

With dozens of strong champions constantly rotating in and out of the meta, “buy whatever is cheap” is a terrible long-term strategy. When a champion you like appears with a big discount, ask yourself three questions:

1. Does this champion fit the role I actually play?

Be honest about your main role. If you’re a jungle main and you almost never go bot lane, then even a 60% discount on a marksman like Varus or Jinx is more of a cosmetic purchase than a strategic one. Prioritize:

  • Two to three champions you truly enjoy for your main role.
  • One or two safe picks for your secondary role.
  • Only after that – comfort picks for off-roles and ARAM fun.

2. How mechanically demanding is this champion?

Some champions are powerful in theory but have a steep learning curve. If you’re trying to climb and your free time is limited, buying a very high-skill champion on sale might not be the smartest move. For example:

  • Azir, Cassiopeia, Gangplank – amazing when mastered, but punishing while you are learning.
  • Braum, Nami, Malphite, Jax – generally easier to understand and valuable in many team comps.

It’s perfectly fine to buy hard champions if your goal is mastery rather than fast climbing. Just be clear about your priorities: RP spent on a “project champion” is RP that doesn’t go into simple, low-maintenance picks that win games immediately.

3. Will this champion stay useful across patches?

Balance changes shift power around all the time, but certain champions remain reliably useful year after year because of their kits:

  • Reliable engage (Leona, Nautilus, Hecarim, Malphite).
  • Universal peel and protection (Braum, Tahm Kench, Nami).
  • Safe, mobile damage dealers (Ezreal, Lucian, Graves).
  • Scalers that are always scary when ahead (Vladimir, Jax, Irelia, Teemo).

Buying these champions on discount is rarely a mistake because even when they’re not “S-tier” in a given patch, they continue to perform in solo queue if you put time into them.

Pairing Champion Sales with Boosting & Coaching

Another way to think about “value” is the time you save, not just the RP you spend. If your main goal is to reach a certain division or rank this season rather than own every champion in the game, it can make sense to:

For example, if you unlock Graves, Hecarim or Shyvana during a sale and then grind jungle with an experienced partner from Boosteria, you get both account progress and skill improvement. The same logic applies if you’re active in several ranked titles – if you also grind car soccer in Rocket League, you can check out the Rocket League boosting prices page and see how multi-game progression fits into your budget.

Smart players treat RP, time and MMR as a single economy. You don’t have to do everything solo; sometimes paying for guidance and faster climb is better than gambling RP on champions you will never truly learn.

Champion-by-Champion Sale Recommendations

Below you’ll find an updated overview of the same champions that used to be highlighted only for a one-time June sale. Now we’ll treat them as evergreen picks: whenever they show up in weekly or seasonal discounts, this is what you should know before you click “Unlock”.

Note: We’ll keep the lore-flavored headings and images so the article remains fun to read, but the advice focuses on modern solo-queue reality – not on a single historical patch.

AZIR – THE EMPEROR OF THE SANDS

Azir lol

Azir – The Emperor of the Sands

Role & identity: Azir is a high-AP control mage for mid lane with marksman-like DPS through his sand soldiers. He rewards long fights and good positioning rather than short all-ins.

Why buy Azir on sale?

  • He’s one of the highest skill-ceiling mages in LoL; players who stick with him can carry entire fights with perfect shuffles.
  • His range and zone control are amazing in organized games, ARAM and late-game teamfights.
  • He teaches you spacing, wave management and teamfight positioning, skills that transfer to many other champions.

Who should skip him? If you want fast results with minimal practice, Azir is a bad first purchase. He’s much better as a “project champion” once you already have a few easier mids like Lux or Viktor.

BLITZCRANK – THE GREAT STEAM GOLEM

Blitzcrank - the Great Steam Golem

Blitzcrank – the Great Steam Golem

Role & identity: Blitzcrank is an engage support whose entire identity revolves around landing Rocket Grab hooks and punishing bad positioning.

Why buy Blitzcrank on sale?

  • He’s very straightforward to learn – if you hook a squishy target, fights often start in your team’s favor.
  • Perfect for low-ELO solo queue, where enemies constantly misposition and forget to respect fog of war.
  • Great synergy with boosting and duo-queue: if you play Blitz and your partner plays a hyper-carry ADC, every good grab can snowball the lane.

Who should skip him? If you dislike “hit or miss” champions or prefer enchanters with defensive tools, Blitz might tilt you more than your opponents.

BRAUM – THE HEART OF THE FRELJORD

Braum lol

Braum – the Heart of the Freljord

Role & identity: Braum is a tank support with some of the best defensive tools in the game. Unbreakable blocks projectiles, and Concussive Blows turns trades into stuns when your team follows up.

Why buy Braum on sale?

  • He’s forgiving for beginners: you protect more than you engage, and you’re allowed to make mistakes.
  • He hard-counters many poke and projectile-heavy comps.
  • He fits almost any hyper-carry marksman – Jinx, Lucian, Ezreal, Varus all love a Braum next to them.

Downside: Braum can feel useless when your team refuses to follow up on stuns, or when the enemy comp is full of melee champions that ignore his shield. Still, as a discounted tank support, he’s a very safe buy.

CASSIOPEIA – THE SERPENT’S EMBRACE

Cassiopeia - the Serpent's Emrace

Cassiopeia – the Serpent’s Embrace

Role & identity: Cassiopeia is a DPS mage for mid or top lane, built around sustained damage, constant kiting and her iconic Petrifying Gaze ultimate.

Why buy Cassiopeia on sale?

  • She scales extremely well – in the late game she can melt tanks and squishies alike.
  • She rewards good mechanics, especially kiting and target focus.
  • Her “no boots” passive lets you hit item breakpoints slightly earlier.

Who should skip her? If you struggle with movement while casting or hate champions that require constant, spammy input, Cassio might be frustrating. She’s best for players who already feel comfortable with other control mages and want a higher APM challenge.

DR. MUNDO – THE MADMAN OF ZAUN

Mundo LoL

Dr. Mundo – the Madman of Zaun

Role & identity: Mundo is a regenerating tank that loves long fights and hates crowd control. After his rework, he keeps the “goes where he pleases” identity with more clarity.

Why buy Mundo on sale?

  • Very easy to play mechanically – great for top or jungle beginners.
  • Fantastic into poke and low-CC comps; he soaks damage and refuses to die.
  • Teaching tool for macro: you learn when to split push, when to frontline and when to soak cooldowns.

He’s not always a meta favorite, but as a discounted tank that can also farm peacefully in low ranks, he’s a comfortable, low-stress pick.

EKKO – THE BOY WHO SHATTERED TIME

Ekko lol

Ekko – the Boy Who Shattered Time

Role & identity: Ekko is a mobile assassin / AP fighter usually played mid or jungle. His identity revolves around burst combos and his iconic Chronobreak reset.

Why buy Ekko on sale?

  • He’s an excellent solo-queue pick when snowballing – one or two good roams and he can completely take over the game.
  • Chronobreak makes him very forgiving: you can dive deep and then snap back if you manage your cooldowns.
  • He’s fun. If you enjoy flashy outplays and “1 HP clutch” moments, Ekko scratches that itch.

He’s not the easiest champion to master, but he’s extremely popular in ranked and worth grabbing with a good discount if you love aggressive playstyles.

ELISE – THE SPIDER QUEEN

Elise LoL

Elise – the Spider Queen

Role & identity: Elise is a AP early-game jungler with two forms – human and spider. She specializes in aggressive ganks, dives and early snowballing.

Why buy Elise on sale?

  • She punishes greedy laners extremely hard, especially in low–mid ELOs where people disrespect early tower dives.
  • Her Cocoon stun and Rappel give you creative gank paths and tower juggle options.
  • If you love proactive jungle styles and early aggression, she’s a perfect “tempo” pick.

Downside: she doesn’t scale as well as some other junglers, so if you prefer farming toward late game rather than dominating early, consider someone like Shyvana or Graves instead.

EVELYNN – THE WIDOWMAKER

Evelynn lol

Evelynn – the Widowmaker

Role & identity: Evelynn is a stealth AP assassin jungler. After level 6 she becomes permanently camouflaged outside of combat, constantly threatening picks on isolated targets.

Why buy Evelynn on sale?

  • She’s a solo-queue nightmare when mastered – you can delete enemy carries repeatedly and warp their vision habits.
  • Her ultimate is a great finisher and an escape tool.
  • If you enjoy mind-games and playing around fog of war, Eve is super satisfying.

She’s not beginner-friendly; pathing, timing and target selection are crucial. But as a discounted pick for players who already understand jungle fundamentals, she’s an excellent investment.

EZREAL – THE PRODIGAL EXPLORER

Ezreal lol

Ezreal – the Prodigal Explorer

Role & identity: Ezreal is a high-mobility marksman who relies heavily on skillshots. He can be built AD or hybrid/AP depending on the meta.

Why buy Ezreal on sale?

  • One of the safest ADCs in the game thanks to Arcane Shift.
  • Great in poke comps and very enjoyable in ARAM and normal games due to his global ultimate.
  • He scales well and can play from behind if you farm safely and land Qs.

If you hate immobile ADCs like Jinx or Varus, Ezreal is often your best friend. Discounted Ezreal is rarely a bad purchase for bot-lane mains.

FIDDLESTICKS – THE HARBINGER OF DOOM

Fiddlesticks lol

Fiddlesticks – the Harbinger of Doom

Role & identity: After his rework, Fiddlesticks is a terrifying AP jungler built around ambushes and fear chains. His ultimate turns vision mistakes into instant teamfight losses for the enemy.

Why buy Fiddle on sale?

  • Hard punishes teams that don’t ward or track jungle.
  • Relatively simple kit – you mostly focus on good flanks and timing rather than complex mechanics.
  • Super fun if you like horror-themed champs and jump-scaring enemy teams.

He can be countered by heavy vision control and mobile comps, but at lower ranks, very few players respect his fog-of-war threat consistently. Great value jungler when discounted.

GANGPLANK – THE SALTWATER SCOURGE

Gangplank lol

Gangplank – the Saltwater Scourge

Role & identity: Gangplank is a high-skill top laner who plays around barrel chains, global impact and gold-generating Qs.

Why buy Gangplank on sale?

  • Massive late-game carry potential when mastered; barrel combos can delete whole teams.
  • Global ultimate lets you influence fights even from weak lanes.
  • Great champion to learn macro concepts like wave control and cross-map impact.

He’s demanding mechanically and mentally. If you want an “easier” top-lane investment, grab Gnar, Malphite or Mundo first, then treat GP as a long-term passion project.

GNAR – THE MISSING LINK

Gnar LoL

Gnar – the Missing Link

Role & identity: Gnar is a ranged → melee transforming fighter for top lane. Mini Gnar pokes and kites, Mega Gnar engages and frontlines.

Why buy Gnar on sale?

  • He’s very flexible – you can play for lane dominance with range or for big teamfight ults.
  • Great learning tool for managing rage and timing engages.
  • Useful in both solo queue and competitive play, so he tends to stay relevant across seasons.

He is a bit more complex than “pure tanks” because of form management, but he’s an excellent discounted top laner for players who want something between a carry and a tank.

GRAVES – THE OUTLAW

Graves Lol

Graves – the Outlaw

Role & identity: Graves is a AD fighter marksman, mostly played in the jungle. His shotgun auto attacks, dashes and smokescreen make him a tempo-based carry.

Why buy Graves on sale?

  • He farms quickly and duels almost any jungler if piloted well.
  • He scales into a second ADC for your team while being fairly tanky.
  • Perfect for players who like farm-heavy, control-style jungling with strong skirmishing.

He’s not the easiest option for completely new junglers, but as a discounted pick for intermediate players, Graves is one of the most efficient RP investments you can make.

HECARIM – THE SHADOW OF WAR

Hecarim lol

Hecarim – the Shadow of War

Role & identity: Hecarim is a fast-engage fighter/tank jungler who crashes into teams with devastating speed and fear.

Why buy Hecarim on sale?

  • He’s one of the best “go in and start the fight” champions in the game.
  • High mobility makes him excellent for punishing overextended lanes.
  • His build paths are flexible: bruiser, tanky engage, or damage-focused depending on meta.

He goes in hard; if your team doesn’t follow, you die first. Hecarim is ideal for players who like to take responsibility for engages rather than waiting for something to happen.

IRELIA – THE WILL OF THE BLADES

Irelia lol

Irelia – the Will of the Blades

Role & identity: Irelia is a high-mobility fighter/slayer for top or mid. She dashes through enemies, resets on last hits and deletes squishies once she has items.

Why buy Irelia on sale?

  • In the right hands, she’s an absolute solo-queue monster.
  • She teaches wave control, matchup knowledge and patience – you have to pick your all-ins carefully.
  • Extremely fun if you enjoy dash resets and “dancing” through fights.

She is not easy, especially in bad matchups, but long-term players who invest into Irelia rarely regret having her unlocked.

JAX – GRANDMASTER AT ARMS

Jax lol

Jax – Grandmaster at Arms

Role & identity: Jax is a scaling fighter/slayer played in top or jungle. He’s famous for dodge mechanics and late-game split push pressure.

Why buy Jax on sale?

  • One of the best champions to learn side-lane win conditions.
  • He scales incredibly well into late game, especially in low–mid ELO where games last longer.
  • Mechanically accessible but with depth – new players can function on him, and experts can do much more.

Discounted Jax is almost always a good idea if you enjoy duels, split pushing and carrying games from the side lane.

JINX – THE LOOSE CANNON

Jinx champion lol

Jinx – the Loose Cannon

Role & identity: Jinx is a classic hyper-carry marksman. She’s immobile but when she gets resets and items, she shreds entire teams.

Why buy Jinx on sale?

  • She’s iconic, popular and very strong in coordinated front-to-back fights.
  • Easy to understand kit – you mostly worry about positioning and target focus.
  • Great synergy with protective supports like Braum, Nami, Leona and Thresh.

If you love the feeling of taking over late games with massive DPS, Jinx is a must-own champion – getting her at a discount is just a bonus.

KATARINA – THE SINISTER BLADE

Katarina Lol

Katarina – the Sinister Blade

Role & identity: Katarina is a reset assassin for mid lane. She thrives in chaotic skirmishes where she can jump in, secure a kill or assist, and instantly jump again.

Why buy Katarina on sale?

  • No mana worries – you fight as long as you have cooldowns and daggers on the ground.
  • Extremely fun and rewarding if you enjoy “clean-up duty” in fights.
  • She punishes low coordination in solo queue because people clump and blow cooldowns randomly.

She’s difficult into heavy CC comps and requires matchup knowledge, but as a discounted purchase she’s perfect for mechanically hungry mid players.

LEONA – THE RADIANT DAWN

Leona LoL champion

Leona – the Radiant Dawn

Role & identity: Leona is a hard-engage tank support with multiple stuns and a long-range ultimate.

Why buy Leona on sale?

  • Simple but very effective – point-and-click and skillshot CC chained together.
  • Great for duo-queue with aggressive ADCs (Lucian, Draven, Jinx, etc.).
  • Teaches you how to track enemy summoners and punish mispositioning.

She’s a fantastic first-purchase support and even better when discounted, especially if you prefer proactive playstyles over passive shielding.

LUCIAN – THE PURIFIER

Lucian lol champion

Lucian – the Purifier

Role & identity: Lucian is a high-burst, short-range marksman. He plays like a skirmisher, weaving dashes and spell casts between auto attacks.

Why buy Lucian on sale?

  • Extremely strong in early and mid-game skirmishes.
  • Great synergy with aggressive supports (Nami, Braum, Leona, Milio depending on meta).
  • Fun, mobile kit that rewards animation cancelling and quick decision-making.

Lucian needs good mechanics and awareness; he’s not a “chill” ADC. But as a discounted buy for people who love proactive bot lane play, he’s one of the best choices.

LUX – THE LADY OF LUMINOSITY

Lux Lol

Lux – the Lady of Luminosity

Role & identity: Lux is a long-range mage played mid or support. She brings shields, snare and a gigantic laser.

Why buy Lux on sale?

  • Very beginner-friendly – clear, simple spells and forgiving ranges.
  • Fits both mid and support roles, giving you flexibility in champ select.
  • Always fun in ARAM and normal games because of her poke and ultimate snipes.

Discounted Lux is almost never a bad purchase if you enjoy mages and want a champion that will always be at least “playable” in solo queue.

MALPHITE – SHARD OF THE MONOLITH

Maplhite LoL

Malphite – Shard of the Monolith

Role & identity: Malphite is a tank or AP burst engager usually played top or mid, with one of the most iconic ultimates in the game.

Why buy Malphite on sale?

  • Very easy to play, but game-changing when you press R on the right targets.
  • Hard-counters heavy AD comps when built tanky.
  • AP Malphite mid can one-shot squishies in low ELO, which is both fun and effective.

He is the definition of “simple but strong”. If you don’t own him yet, picking him up during a sale is a no-brainer.

MAOKAI – THE TWISTED TREANT

Maokai lol champion

Maokai – the Twisted Treant

Role & identity: Maokai is a tank with pick and zone control, playable top, jungle or support depending on patch.

Why buy Maokai on sale?

  • His ultimate provides long-range engage and peel.
  • Saplings give vision and poke in brushes, which is very useful around objectives.
  • Easy to understand and surprisingly annoying for enemies to play against.

He rises and falls in meta, but as a flexible tank who can slot into multiple roles, discounted Maokai is a good “glue pick” for your champion pool.

NAMI – THE TIDECALLER

Nami lol champion

Nami – the Tidecaller

Role & identity: Nami is an enchanter support with poke, sustain and great crowd control through her bubble and tidal wave.

Why buy Nami on sale?

  • One of the best supports for aggressive lanes (with Lucian, for example).
  • Brings both engage and peel, which makes her flexible in many team comps.
  • Her kit feels impactful even when your team is slightly behind.

If you enjoy ranged supports that can both protect and punish, Nami is a fantastic discounted buy and remains one of the most solid enchanters in LoL.

NAUTILUS – THE TITAN OF THE DEPTHS

  • He has a ton of crowd control – if your team follows up, fights feel easy.
  • Relatively easy to pilot; you just need to choose the right target and press R.
  • Works well even in chaotic low-ELO fights.

Role & identity: After his rework, Pantheon is a lane bully fighter that can also roam with his global leap.

Why buy Pantheon on sale?

  • Strong laning phase – great for punishing weak early champs.
  • Global presence lets you influence other lanes even from top or mid.
  • Relatively simple combos; the focus is on timing, not huge mechanics.

Rek Sai lol champion

Rek’Sai – the Void Burrower

Role & identity: Rek’Sai is a early-game fighter jungler with unique burrow mechanics and tremor sense vision.

Why buy Rek’Sai on sale?

  • Great for early aggression and invading – she punishes slow, scaling junglers.
  • Her tunnels offer creative pathing and escape routes.
  • Unique playstyle that feels very different from standard auto-attack junglers.

She rises and falls in meta depending on items and jungle changes. If you enjoy early-game pressure and learning off-meta picks, discounted Rek’Sai can be a fun pickup, but she’s less “universal” than some others on this list.

SHYVANA – THE HALF-DRAGON

Shyvana lol champion

Shyvana – the Half-Dragon

Role & identity: Shyvana is a farm-to-power jungler who becomes a dragon in her ultimate and loves taking early drakes.

Why buy Shyvana on sale?

  • Relatively simple mechanics – very good for newer junglers.
  • Applies massive damage in AoE in dragon form.
  • Rewarding win condition: you play heavily around dragons and scaling.

Role & identity: Talon is a roaming AD assassin mid known for his parkour over walls and fast burst combos.

Why buy Talon on sale?

  • Relatively simple combos; most of the skill is macro: where and when to roam.
  • Very satisfying if you like one-shotting enemy carries from fog of war.

  • Very durable for a mage, which helps in messy solo-queue fights.

He has a weak early game and needs farm, but if you enjoy patient scaling and big late-game payoffs, discounted Vladimir is a very strong long-term investment.

Using External Resources to Plan Your Purchases

This guide focuses on evergreen, playstyle-based advice, because exact win-rate numbers and pick-rates change from patch to patch. If you want hard numbers before buying a champion on sale, it’s worth checking:

  • The official LoL website for basic champion summaries and spotlights.
  • Analytics and stat sites such as OP.GG champion pages to see up-to-date performance in your region and rank.
  • Lore and background on sites like the LoL Universe champions hub if you care about story and theme as well as gameplay.

Combine those data-driven tools with the more “human” angle in this guide (difficulty, fun, flexibility), and you’ll make much smarter RP decisions overall.

Legacy Section – Old June Sale & Historical Stats

The original version of this article was written many seasons ago and focused on a single June champion sale. It listed exact RP prices and win-rate/popularity numbers for Gold+ players at that time, based on external stat sites. Since then, LoL has gone through countless patches, partial reworks and item system changes, so those specific numbers are no longer accurate.

Instead of deleting that work completely, we’ve moved the outdated, number-heavy parts into this Legacy Section. Consider it a snapshot of how these champions looked in the meta years ago, not a buying guide for 2025:

  • Old win-rate percentages and popularity stats were taken from third-party analytics websites for Gold+ divisions at the time.
  • RP values and discounts mentioned in the older text referred to that year’s pricing tiers and sale structure.
  • Some references to “Season 6/Season 7” rewards (like Victorious Maokai) belonged to that era’s ranked reward system.

If you’re reading this guide today, you should treat all those historical numbers as lore and trivia. For modern champion power levels, always rely on current stat pages and patch notes – but the playstyle-based advice above remains valid even when Riot shifts numbers around.

Whenever one of these champions appears in a weekly or seasonal sale, come back to this guide, check the role, difficulty and strengths we outlined, and then decide whether it’s the right time to finally spend your hard-earned RP.

Good luck on the Rift – and if you ever feel stuck, remember you can always combine smart champion purchases with professional help from Boosteria to reach the rank you’re aiming for.
